Story of the Sun City brought to life through colorful performance

The El Paso tradition of “Viva El Paso” performances embarks on its last month of performances in the McKelligan Canyon. Dancers, singers, actors and musicians take the audience through the journey of how the “Sun City” came to be. Jaime Carrasco, the assistant director and choreographer of “Viva El Paso,” says the performance in the Franklin Mountains is unlike any other. Carrasco says it's a tradition he is happy to keep alive for 40 years. Hector Serrano is the founder and playwright of “Viva El Paso.” The performances kicked off in 1978. El Paso has grown and changed since early performances and the story has changed too to keep up with new historical facts. Performances run every weekend through July. Spanish performances dates are also available.
