On the Record: Lawsuits and Comebacks!

X breaks downwhat's happening in the music world in today's On the Record!

Rapper Drake has been named in a federal RICO-based civil lawsuit filed in Virginia, alongside live streamer Adin Ross and the online gambling platform Stake.us. The complaint alleges the group promoted an illegal online casino and used proceeds from the platform to funnel money through an unregulated “tipping” feature, which plaintiffs say was then used to pay for bot-driven streaming campaigns that artificially inflated Drake’s music play counts on platforms like Spotify. The suit claims the conduct violated Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act and consumer protection laws, and seeks at least $5 million in damages on behalf of affected users. So far, none of the allegations have been proven in court, and Drake and the other defendants have not publicly responded.
