TELL US: What is your 'go-to' cold weather food?


SAN ANTONIO - The wind is blowing and the temperatures are falling. We're all looking for ways to stay warm. Many enjoy spending time and eating dishes that warm the soul - from inside out.

So what do San Antonians like? We asked and you responded. CLICK HERE to tell us your 'go-to' cold weather food...

"Soup: Minestrone, or Chicken and Dumplings are my favs," commented Donna Marshall-Segura.

Debra Peña Nuncio prefers, "Chill, Menudo, Hot Chocolate/Coffee."

Kristen Martinez likes something a little different, "Japanese Curry"

"Matzo Ball Soup," is Dayna Salan Burg's favorite.

mmmmm! Becky L Maldonado likes "Beef stew with cornbread."

Angela Aguero goes with, "Old fashioned oatmeal with cinnamon toast and coffee."

"Caldo, with homemade corn tortillas. Tortilla soup with quesadillas on the side," says Dora Gallegos Dodds.

Yvee Mari has a specific favorite, "Belizean Chicken soup."

Steve Rivera says, "Ice cream and snow cones." - wait, what?

Margaret Garcia goes with, "Fish n shrimp vegetable soup//Albondigas soup. favorite's."

Here's what you said on social media:

Caldo and menudo were the most mentioned cold weather reliever. Those favorites were followed by pho and potato soup. Also on the list: tomato soup, chili, and even some mashed potatoes.

So is there any real benefit to eating your favorite hot dish? Does it prevent us from getting sick? Dr. Jason Bowling from UT Health San Antonio says sleep is more important.

Unfortunately, eating chicken soup is not going to keep you from getting a respiratory virus infection," Bowling says. "It is really important to have a well balanced diet, stay well hydrated, get plenty of sleep, sleep hygiene, I think it's something that we can all work on a little bit better to keep ourselves a little bit better prepared in case we do get exposed.
