SAN ANTONIO - A San Antonio restaurant was selected in the first ever MICHELIN Guide Texas.
San Antonio’s ‘Mixtli’ - which serves up trailblazing Mexican cuisine - was awarded a MICHELIN star. From the visionary minds of Chefs Diego Galicia and Rico Torres, the Southtown restaurant has ever changing menu focuses on different parts of Mexico and offers unique interpretations of Oaxacan specialties. They also specialize in the cuisine of “Tierra Caliente.” Mixtli also received a special award for Michelin Outstanding Service, awarded to Hailey Pruitt and Lauren Beckman.
The selection guide features 15 one-MICHELIN-Star establishments and two MICHELIN Green Star eateries. The full selection totals 117 restaurants spanning 26 cuisine types.

“Our anonymous Inspectors were impressed by the culinary community across the state of Texas,” said Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the MICHELIN Guides. “The selection reflects their findings by highlighting uniquely Texas flavors, such as Barbecue and Tex-Mex, as well as several international influences. We are very honored to welcome these restaurants to the MICHELIN Guide family for the first time and we toast to the tremendous spirit of the Texas restaurant community!”
San Antonio’s ‘Hotel Emma,’ located at the Pearl, was also spotlighted in the MICHELIN Guide selection of hotels. The hotel holds two MICHELIN Keys.
Several other restaurants were also recognized. Cullum's Attaboy, The Jerk Shack, Ladino and Southerleigh Fine Food and Brewery all made the Michelin's Bib Gourmand Distinction.

Other local eateries also made Texas' 2024 most recommended list. Those include, 2M Smokehouse, Barbecue Station, Garcia's Mexican Food, Leche de Tigre, Little Em's Oyster Bar and Nicosi.
