San Antonio's Garcia's Mexican Restaurant featured in New York Times' top 23 dishes


SAN ANTONIO- A local San Antonio restaurant is being put into the spotlight after receiving top marks from the New York Times.

Garcia's Mexican Restaurant is family-owned and has been a part of the San Antonio community for over 60 years. It was listed in the Times article as the Top 23 dishes in America.

The co-owner of Garcia's, Andrew Garcia, said that the article surprised him, but he's honored for who and what the acknowledgment represents.

"It's an honor for sure. And to the people who made it, cause it's not just me, it's all the crew and everybody. Waitresses and everybody and the customers you know, if it wasn't for them, we wouldn't be here.

Garcia says the rub that makes the brisket special is made in-house and can be found at Garcia's and at its sister location in Kerrville, Blackjack BBQ.
