Now what is the main essential that makes up a GREAT cheeseburger? According to many burger experts, it all starts with the burger meat - preferably Angus beef - with a fat content of about 20%, which will give it that amazing flavor, according to Serious Eats.

The cheeseburger is thought to have been invented in the early 1920s. There are several competing claims to the invention, but one popular story credits Lionel Sternberger, a teenager working in his father's sandwich shop in Pasadena, California, with adding cheese to a hamburger in 1924.

The cheeseburger quickly became popular throughout the country. Today, it is one of the most popular menu items at restaurants of all types, from fast food chains to fine dining establishments.
