Thanksgiving dinner for many includes lots of leftovers, but have you ever heard of Turkey Pizza? Our El Paso Correspondent, Roman, learned how to make this delicious dish!
“The Feast” - a popular pizza with a holiday twist
When you think of Thanksgiving leftovers you’ve probably heard of turkey bowls and turkey sandwiches...but have you ever thought to make a Thanksgiving pizza? Daytime got the chance to learn the recipe from a popular El Paso pizza spot: The Pizza Joint. Owner Melissa Goldberg walked us through the process of making this tasty pie and shared with us the idea behind it. “You can take any ingredients that you have at home, and you can throw them on a piece of dough. It can work the same as we use a tortilla or a biscuit.”
To make this feast at home you will need the following:
15 oz. dough ball
1 cup mozzarella cheese
3/4 cup mushroom gravy sauce
3/4 cup cooked turkey
3/4 cup stuffing
1/2 cup green beans
1/2 cup french fried onions
Cranberry sauce - To be used on pizza or for dipping
1/4 cup flour
? cup cornmeal
Directions:
Dust dough ball and prep counter with flour
Flatten dough ball out to about 12-15 inches
Dust cooking pan with cornstarch and transfer dough onto the pan
Spread gravy sauce in a circular motion around the dough, leaving 1-2 inches for the crust
Add all your toppings except for the cranberry sauce
Place pizza in oven at 475 and bake for 8-10 minutes
Pizza will be done when you smell the Thanksgiving feast
Top pizza with cranberry sauce if desired
