Rapid Fire: Breaking Down the Latest Trends

#KennethSeanCarson
Recognize that name? Kenneth Sean Carson — better known as Ken — has been part of childhoods for 65 years. He’ll officially celebrate his 65th anniversary this March, and Barbie is teasing new adventures for him. Ken was named after the son of Mattel co-founders Ruth and Elliot Handler. The official Barbie account recently posted a video of Ken leaving the beach with the caption: “After 65 years, Ken's ready to explore a new era by trying 65 new things. Where should he begin?”

#MyBadKanye
West has issued an apology for his past antisemitic behavior, attributing it to bipolar disorder and a previous brain injury. He says he’s committed to “treatment and meaningful change.” It’s also worth noting that Kanye has an album scheduled for release on Friday —unless he pushes the date again. He credits much of his progress to his wife, Bianca Censori, who he says encouraged him to seek help. So the question online is: Is Ye being sincere or is this strategic timing ahead of his album drop?

#EpicFail
A pop-up attraction called the Museum of Personal Failure has opened in Vancouver. Exhibits include a dead houseplant, a divorced woman’s wedding dress, and an entire wall of rejected job applications. The museum was created by Eyvan Collins, who came up with the idea following a breakup — a personal failure of their own. They put posters around Vancouver reading “Failures Wanted,” inviting the public to contribute their stories and items. It raises the question: Is there an art to failure? And what would you add to this exhibition?
