Local fitness influencer, Ashley Ta shares to love yourself with patience in mind

SAN ANTONIO - A San Antonio local is bringing the meaning of self-love to the community and those that have a similar journey to hers.

Ashley Ta started her account in 2014 the year after she had her first child. After being discharged from the Army and having her daughter, she says that she gained a lot of weight and had severe postpartum depression.

When she moved to California with her ex-husband, she suffered mentally and physically. She says that she came to the realization that she just accepted her fate of being 235 pounds and not being able to do the things she wanted to with her daughter.

It wasn't until she decided to start a new year's resolution in 2014 that her motivation was to do better for her daughter.

"I said I'm going to lose the weight, I'm going to get healthy for my daughter, I'm not going to accept defeat," says Ta. "I'm not going to set that example for I'm going to show her like, this is what you can do when you put your mind to something."

When it came to being an influencer, this account was solely for her 'public diary' as a means of holding herself accountable.

She says that she doesn't consider herself an influencer but just wants to share what works for her. Ta says that she resonated with a lot of mothers and her journey has grown more and more as she continues to learn what works for her.

After going through two more pregnancies, she documented her journey and continues the motivation she hopes the community will find motivation through.

"My big thing is just learning to love yourself where you're at in your journey, whether you're just starting, and you know, just trying to figure it out as I did, and just giving yourself a lot of grace and a lot of time to undo and unlearn a lot of things that, you know, you might have been holding on for too for a while," says Ta. "So just be patient. Be patient with yourself and just love yourself where you're at. That's really self-love."

Ashley Ta has been on this journey for about 10 years now and she says that she wants her children to know the importance of loving yourself.

Ta says that finding love or validation from an outside source can be toxic and her mission is the exact opposite.

"My biggest goal and mission is to just let women know that you can love yourself, wherever you're at in your journey, finding that self love and that validation from yourself and not from like an outside source."

Ashley Ta says that patience will be your biggest obstacle. Give yourself a lot of grace and time to unlearn a lot of habits and you will learn to love yourself with where you are at.
