If you're thinking about bringing home a new pet, scammers are really good at making it tricky. Lisa Norwood with San Antonio Animal Care Services was here to share the red flags to be on the lookout for.
The first red flag? If the owner won't let you meet a puppy's parents, it's a huge red flag. This can be because the breeder doesn't want you to know about temperament or even health conditions.
All sellers in San Antonio need to have a permit. If the location you're getting a pet doesn't have a permit, it can mean they aren't doing things properly.
If you're looking for a pure-bred animal, you have a chance to find one at the shelter, but if they are not available remember to do your research on breeders and other shelters in the area!
