Motorcycle therapy helping veterans and first responders with PTSD

SAN ANTONIO - For many veterans and first responders who have experienced trauma in the line of duty, the road to recovery can be a long and difficult one. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a common condition among these groups, and the symptoms can be debilitating, affecting their physical and mental health, as well as their ability to function in everyday life. However, one organization is using a unique approach to help those who are struggling with PTSD find hope and healing.

Motorcycle Missions is a non-profit organization that helps veterans and first responders with PTSD find purpose, camaraderie, and adrenaline through motorcycle riding and building. The organization was founded in 2016 by Krystal Hess, a motorcycle enthusiast and veteran who wanted to create a community where people could come together and support one another through their shared passion for motorcycles.

At Motorcycle Missions, participants are given the opportunity to learn how to ride and build motorcycles, as well as take part in group rides and other events. The organization's programs are designed to help veterans and first responders reconnect with themselves with the freedom that comes with riding a motorcycle. This organization's approach to therapy is providing a supportive community of like-minded individuals who share a passion for motorcycles. Motorcycle Missions hopes to encourage its participants to develop a life-long passion for riding and building motorcycles, and to find a sense of purpose and fulfillment in their lives after trauma.

Riding a motorcycle can provide a sense of freedom and control that is often missing in the lives of those who are struggling with PTSD. It can also help to reduce stress and anxiety, improve mood, and boost self-confidence. Additionally, the sense of community that comes with being part of a motorcycle club can help to combat the social isolation that many people with PTSD experience.

Recently, Motorcycle Missions received a significant boost from another veteran non-profit organization called MotoUp, which raised over $110,000 to support Motorcycle Missions' mission. This contribution will help to expand the organization's reach and provide even more opportunities for veterans and first responders to participate in motorcycle therapy.

Motorcycle Missions is helping to improve the lives of those who have served and protected our communities. For those who are interested in getting involved with Motorcycle Missions, there are a variety of ways to participate. The organization offers motorcycle riding and building classes, as well as group rides, fundraisers, and other events. They also have a shop where participants can work on their own motorcycles, as well as access tools and equipment.
