The heat can be especially rough on our furryfriends, Lisa Norwood from San Antonio Animal Care Services shares some simpletips to keep your furry friends safe this summer. She even brought along Pepe,a dog looking to get adopted!
Pets need so much water this time of year, aswell as proper shade and shelter. If you are going to keep your pet outside, itis vitally important that your pet has an area to go to where they canstay out of the sun and stay cool. If it's uncomfortable for you, it'suncomfortable for them. If possible, bring your pet inside so they can staycool in the AC.
Keep your pets' feet safe by investing in somepaw booties to protect their paws from the hot pavement. Pop-up water bowls arealso a great item to bring with you on walks, no matter how long. If you'rebringing your pet to the beach, they even have doggy life preservers to keepyour dog safe while they cool down in the water. Some can even hold extrasupplies or double as a hiking bag for your pet.
Do not leave your pet alone in the car, if you'veever burnt yourself on a hot car seat, you know how hot it gets in your cars, even when you're gone only for a few minutes.
Lisa also told us that if you're interested in apet, now is a great time! For all the month of August, San Antonio Animal CareServices is waiving adoption fees! Come find your soulmate or even come see ifPepe is the one for you!
