Get Started in Nursing Easily with Rio Grande Valley College in San Antonio

Nurses are always in high demand, and getting started in the field is easier than ever. Maria E. Williams from Rio Grande Valley College in San Antonio joined us to share how the school is helping students confidently transition into healthcare careers.

The college is bringing several of its established programs from other campuses to San Antonio, including Medical Assisting, Vocational Nursing, and the LVN to RN Transition Program. These programs range from six months to one year, allowing students to quickly train and move into the workforce.

A key part of the curriculum is hands on clinical experience. Because students complete clinical hours during their program, many graduate with job opportunities already lined up. And for those who need additional support, Rio Grande Valley College offers career assistance to help students find employment after graduation.

While some prospective students may feel intimidated by the math and science requirements, Williams says the program is designed to help them grow. Small class sizes and one-on-one support ensure students get the attention they need to succeed.

Financial aid is available through federal and citywide programs, offering multiple pathways for students to access these life changing opportunities.
