It’s a West Wednesday! Today we’re making one of Chef Brian West’s favorite sandwiches, the muffaletta.

Sandwiches are a great way to pack in energy and flavor quickly, and Chef West is putting his own spin on this New Orleans classic.

To make your own, follow these steps:

Start with lightly toasted Italian bread and spread olive oil in place of mayonnaise.

Add a generous layer of olive salad. Chef West recommends ordering an authentic version straight from New Orleans.

Layer on your meats and cheeses: mortadella, hot salami, and capicola.

Finish with another layer of olive salad and a drizzle of olive oil.

This sandwich is rich, flavorful, and a little messy, in the best way. The crunchy bread holds everything together while the olive oil adds that signature drip.
