New wine introduced for beer drinkers at wine fest in New Mexico


El Pasoans are always a short road trip away from their next adventure. One place most El Paso wine drinkers go to kick off Spring is La Viña Wine Fest in La Union, New Mexico. Undoubtedly, beer drinkers may tag along this month. Winemaker Guillermo Contador says this spring, the festival is unveiling a wine for beer drinkers called Beer ON Yay. Ken Stark, owner of La Viña Winery, says La Viña is the oldest winery in New Mexico. The wine festival is held twice a year and the flavors change for the seasons. La Viña Spring Wine Fest will run from April 27 to April 28. Adult admission to the festival is $20 and includes a souvenir glass and a choice of nine tastes or a full glass. There is a $10 admission charge for guests 12-20 years of age. Guest 11 and under are admitted for free.
