Gabriel Iglesias considered moving to San Antonio, decided on monthlong stay instead

SAN ANTONIO - There are signs all over San Antonio we are emerging from the pandemic and getting back to normal.

One of the ways you can tell -- shows are back. Comedian Gabriel Iglesias is for a month. We got the chance to sit down with him before one of his shows and he told us he loves being here in the Alamo City.

“It is good to be back outside,” Iglesias said to us. “Good to be back on tour.”

Iglesias, or Fluffy as so many of us know him, is no stranger to San Antonio.

“It's a city that I spent a lot of time in when I first started,” Iglesias said.

So, it's no surprise he'd pick the Alamo City as one of his first stops back on tour after the pandemic.

“I love the fact that we were able to go from it being a week to two weeks to three weeks to let’s just make a special,” Iglesias said.

The special he's talking about is his new comedy special filming right here during his final shows at the Tobin Center for the performing arts.

“Why don't we just make it a nice little package deal where it's just like a bunch of shows and then reward the city that gave us all this love with a special,” Iglesias said.

In fact, Fluffy loves San Antonio so much, he's thought about making it his home.

“I actually considered moving to San Antonio -- I own property in town here by the way,” Iglesias revealed.

And if you ask him what his favorite thing is about our city -- it's you.

“People -- the people I love you guys,” Fluffy said. “And your food and not in that order.”

Tickets for Fluffy's month-long run are sold out.

The Tobin does have coronavirus protocols like social distancing, reduced capacity, and mask wearing in effect.

So far, no release date has been set for his comedy special.
