Pretzels have a surprisingly long history, dating back to around the 7th century AD. Monks are believed to have created them as treats for their students, with the crossed shape resembling praying arms.

So grab your favorite pretzel, be it soft and chewy or hard and salty, dipped in cheese or mustard (or even chocolate), and join the celebration.
